Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao said many of the issues around the performance and stability of the income tax e-filing portal have been addressed.
“We have 8-10 lakh people signing on to the portal and doing various activities. Many of the new functionalities like eproceedings, TDS returns, some of the statutory forms and ITR 2 have been released. About 10 lakh ITRs have been filed so far. Yesterday, 1 lakh ITRs were filed on a single day. About 1.6 lakh DSC registrations have been done, 2 lakh statutory forms filed, 31,000 e-proceedings responses submitted, and we have got 63.5 lakh Aadhaar PAN linking requests. We have to address some of the issues that we continue to face in some of the functionalities, and also have to roll out new functionalities. We are working collaboratively with the I-T department and other stakeholders. We have added more leaders to the project, and it’s the single largest priority for Infosys,” Rao said.
The upgraded portal, which went live on June 7, suffered glitches, leading to an uproar from many users. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman also raised the issue. Infosys won the project, worth Rs 4,232 crore, to develop the I-T filing portal in 2019.
The project is meant to develop a next-generation income-tax filing system to reduce processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and speed up refunds.
