As per latest tweet of CNBC-TV18, Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has summoned Ola Cabs and Uber India for alleged tax evasion.
As per sources DGGI investigation has unearthed tax evasion of Rs 827 crore by Uber India and Rs 300 crore by Ola.
DGGI alleges that Uber India and Ola have not paid GST on the incentives paid to drivers and have not paid GST on ride cancellations which is charged to consumers.
Ola says ” We are in receipt of a notice from tax department relating to certain matters prior to 2017 in our mobility biz. These pertain to the erstwhile service tax regime. Have been actively engaged with tax department. Will be able to resolve this satisfactorily”. CNBC-TV18 has written to Uber India, however comments are awaited.
